Everything You Need to Know about the Ski & Snowboard Competition – APIK 2024

Have you ever imagined riding through a snow and ski course right in the heart of the city? Picture this: the crisp winter air, the thrill of navigating challenging terrain, all while being cheered on by thousands of enthusiastic spectators.

Well, from March 1 to 3, the perfect opportunity awaits! This unparalleled experience unfolds on a specially designed course by Today’s Park. Tailored to cater to a range of skill levels, this exceptional course ensures there’s something for every rider, making it accessible to all.

Join us on Saint-Denis Street in the heart of the Latin Quarter for three days of competition and celebration. Get in the running for a spot in the top 5 of each category and a shot at some fair cash prizes. This year, men and women will ride simultaneously while maintaining separate podiums.

The competition format stays the same for both skiing and snowboarding. Judges will be looking at style, difficulty, variety, originality, consistency, and how well you navigate the course, in addition to the specified format below.

QUALIFICATION FORMAT

Maximum 40 athletes
2 heats featuring 20 athletes
Jam format lasting 60 minutes per heat
3 runs of your choice will be judged
Each judged run is scored out of 100 points
Only the best run counts

FINAL FORMAT
Top 16 men
Top 4 women (minimum)

1 heat featuring 20 athletes
Jam format lasting 60 minutes
Best tricks evaluated on a scale of 100 points
Top 3 of your best tricks contribute to your score
Results calculated out of 300 points

NOTE: Consistency and falls won’t impact the final score

SUPER-FINAL FORMAT
Top 5 move on to the super final
Top 5 contenders earn rewards $$

1 heat featuring 5 athletes
3 final attempts per athlete
Only your best trick counts
Score added to the final score
Possibility to earn up to 100 additional points
Result calculated out of 400 points

NOTE: Consistency and falls are not considered in this format.
You must land a new trick that you haven’t done yet.

BEST TRICK

Open to all athletes
In the lower section of the course
Earn money every time you impress the judges
Concludes when there’s no more prize money available

Best trick: $ 500 to be distributed among all riders during the contest.

We’re also hosting an invitation-only snowskate best trick competition.
Best trick snowskate: $ 500 awarded at the end of the contest.

Athletes will have their own dedicated space on the second floor of L’Amère à boire, providing a spot to rest, warm up, and enjoy some refreshments like Red Bull.

You’ll even have the opportunity to explore snowskating on Saturday during the Ambition Snowskates initiation!
