Golden Ticket Winners: The Chosen Few Headed to APIK Mississauga presented by Samsung Galaxy

4 February 2025 / By jayperreault

You don’t get handed a shot at Canada’s heaviest street comp—you take it, and this crew did just that. This February, APIK Mississauga presented by Samsung Galaxy is locking in an insane setup, $100,000 in prize money, and a lineup of legendary riders as mentioned in our previous blog post. But the real talk of the town? The Golden Ticket winners—riders and skiers who didn’t just show up, they showed out. Across some of the most iconic rail jams and competitions in the game, these select athletes were handpicked for their creativity, grit, and that undeniable “it” factor that sets them apart.

Each of these athletes earned their ticket through blood, sweat, and steel at events like the IF3 Québec Rail Jam, B-Dog’s Off the Leash, the Metal Royal Rail Jam, and more. Now, they’re about to take all that heat straight to Mississauga’s snow-covered streets. Let’s meet the winners who’ll be representing the future of urban riding at APIK Mississauga 2025.

Who Will Steal the Show at Apik Fest? Time to Place Your Bets!

The Winners

1. Félix L.A.IF3 Québec Rail Jam
Part of the legendary EVO Kidz trio—Félix, Axel, Xavier. Félix has been immersed in action sports since day one. Growing up in an environment where progression and pushing limits were the daily routine, it’s no surprise he landed himself a Golden Ticket. Even if he’s  just 15, with a mix of fearlessness and straight-up raw talent, Félix is coming in hot and ready to make a statement.

2. Anthony “2tone_thony” Patry – Off the Leash
Sometimes, the realest moves happen off the snow. Tom G, who won an APIK invite in Mississauga, made a power move and handed his spot over to Anthony Patry—proving that the scene is built on respect and community. Now, Anthony’s got a shot at the biggest street contest in Canada, and if his past performances are any indication, he’s about to put on a show.

Patry’s no stranger to heavy urban riding—just look at his nosebutter 4 on the down rail. He’s also part of PARTIMEVERYTHING, a Quebec-based ski crew that somehow balances full-time jobs and university studies with stacking clips in the streets. Their final film, Nostalgie, stands out for its raw approach—built almost entirely on natural features, untouched and unaltered. Now, Anthony brings that same creativity and drive to APIK, ready to leave his mark.

3. Louis Éthier – Off the Leash

Brother of fellow Golden Ticket winner Laurent Éthier, Louis is a proud member of the FBI squad and a force in his own right. He gained his spot during the off the leash rail jam. What fuels him? The feeling of freedom, the adrenaline rush, and the connections made through snowboarding. A dedicated athlete balancing his studies in physiotherapy at Université Laval, Louis is backed by Salomon, Mountain hardwear, Crab grab, Axis boutique, Voltfuse and more. With influences like Frank Jobin and the riders he shares sessions with, Louis thrives on progression—and Mississauga is about to see that firsthand.

4. Laurent Éthier /Justin “Juice” Kennedy – Online Contest – Online Contest

Selected by Natalie Allport and Evan McEachran, Laurent Éthier (snowboard) and Justin “Juice” Kennedy (ski) earned their tickets through APIK’s online contest. Their clips—packed with bold tricks—spoke for themselves. Laurent’s ability to send it on technical rails and Juice’s raw talent on skis make them serious contenders to watch out for.
Laurent is no stranger to turning heads, and he proved it big time at The Bomb Hole x Loon Parks NH event, securing a 3rd place finish that put him on the radar in a major way. He’s been stacking clips, perfecting his craft, and setting the stage for a breakout season. Now, with his Golden Ticket in hand, Laurent is locked in to leave his mark at APIK.

Coming off an unreal weekend at the IF3 Awards in Whistler, Juice took home a major award for his skiing in absORB, the latest OS Crew film. From shoveling snow to locking in clips, Juice has been putting in the work, and now he’s rolling into ApikFest with momentum, hype, and a serious point to prove.

6. Mathieu Dufresne – Metal Royal Rail Jam
The Metal Royal Rail Jam introduced a fresh, creative format where snowboarders and skiers went head-to-head, and Mathieu Dufresne came out on top. His final battle against Coltan was a showdown for the books, with Coltan—last year’s APIK Montréal winner—putting up an insane fight. But it was Mathieu’s technical relentless drive that earned him the win. You might’ve already seen him in Words to the Wise, a short film by Xavier Mayrand, but at APIK, he’s about to show the streets what he’s really made of.

7. Andrew Perry – Blue Mountains Resort FRZN Jam Wild Card

Andrew Perry had the whole spot tuned in FRZN Jam. A local who’s been stacking clips and throwing down for over a decade, he brought the kind of energy that makes a session. Big tricks, no hesitation, all heart. He didn’t take the official win, but according to Martin Gouda, the decision was easy: “He was the guy everyone was watching. He sent it, kept the whole crew invested, and had the loudest cheers of the day. No doubt he’ll hold his own in Mississauga.”Wild card? More like the right call. Perry’s rolling into ApikFest ready to back it up.

An Unmissable Lineup

This year’s Golden Ticket winners are the perfect mix of seasoned pros, young guns, and “hungry for the win” type of riders. Every name on this list has put in the hours, taken the slams, and proven they belong in a session where tricks don’t come easy. From rail jams to film fest showdowns, these riders have been making noise in all the right places, and now they’ve got their shot at the heaviest street comp in Canada.

A solid crew of skiers and snowboarders who know how to handle business when the features get real Mississauga better be ready because when these athletes hit the steel, it’ll be a masterclass of talents. With $100,000 on the line and this crew leading the charge, APIK Mississauga is set to be legendary.
