Top 7 Things to do in town during APIK Mississauga presented by SAMSUNG Galaxy

30 January 2025 / By jacquidavis

The success of a backyard snowboard jam held for fun by Tribu founder and CEO Micah Desforges, and the incredible feedback received from the action sports community, is the pillar on which our company was built. Over time, this once informal event has evolved into a breathtaking throw down of urban skiing and snowboarding, free to the public, that draws thousands of winter warriors to Montreal’s Latin Quarter.

From February 7 to 9, Tribu is bringing our signature winter festival to Mississauga’s Celebration Square. We are weeks away from the inaugural APIK, Ontario Edition.

Mississauga, twenty minutes from Pearson International Airport (Toronto) and thirty minutes from downtown Toronto, is an international destination in its own right. Within steps of the APIK site, the city, and surrounding environs, offer a variety of entertainment and dining options, catering to all tastes. We asked our friends and partners at the Visit Mississauga for insider tips on must-see attractions, and they shared excellent suggestions to further enhance your APIK Mississauga 2025 itinerary.

1.  Catch a Raptors 905 or Toronto Rock game at Paramount Fine Foods Centre

Basketball exploded in popularity in southern Ontario when a bball team by the name of the Toronto Raptors took home the NBA championship in 2019, a history-making moment.  Mississauga is a town for sports fans, and its Paramount Fine Foods Centre is the proud home to Raptors 905,  the first NBA G League team based outside of the United States. On February 7th, 2025, Raptors 905 will face Osceola Magic in an exciting match-up. If Lacrosse is more your interest, the Paramount Fine Foods Centre is also home to Toronto Rock, who take on the San Diego Seals on Saturday, February 8th, 2025. Tickets range from $21 to $136.

2. Shop for all your ski and snowboard needs at Corbetts

Corbetts Ski & Snowboard has been southern Ontario’s go-to retailer for alpine sport enthusiasts for nearly sixty years. A family-owned business employing hundreds of skilled locals, across generations, our APIK flagship store (and warehouse outlet) is located in Oakville, about a fifteen-minute drive from Mississauga, with a second location in Collingwood, Ontario, near Blue Mountain Resort. Both locations offer a vast selection of products, are open seven days a week, and provide in-store tune-ups and binding installation. Visit Corbetts pop up at APIK, and check out their online store for new merch and some great deals on all your favourite ski and snowboard brands.

3.  Head North to Blue Mountain

If you are still buzzing from APIK adrenaline, why not extend your visit with a trip to Blue Mountain, Ontario’s largest mountain village resort? Nestled along the turquoise blue shores of Georgian Bay, on the breathtaking Niagara Escarpment – a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve with the oldest forest ecosystem in eastern North America – Blue Mountain is close to my heart as the place where I fell in love with snowboarding. Stop by their pop up shop at the APIK site and consider making the short 130 km drive north (with some amazing views along the way) to make some turns. Burton team rider and 2024 Natural Selection Tour winner Mike Ciccarelli is from this region. Although Ciccarelli now calls Whistler, BC home, it was on these ranges, near his hometown of Ancaster, Ontario, that he honed his skills in slopestyle and big air snowboarding.
